Time Management for Moms

A woman’s work is never done. Now that’s the naked truth, lol! In today’s society the roles of women have transformed from what it was back in the days to a now current trend of head of households and time management is the key. Women are working full time, as well as, raising families, and loving their husbands. I know a single mother of six who goes to school full time, work full-time, coach for her children’s extracurricular activities, and still have to take care of the essentials, cooking, cleaning, charming, organizing, mediating the kids, ironing school clothes, etc….Whew and even in the mist of all of that, we still have to try stay focused and healthy. How? With all of the hurdles of life, finding time to work out, meditate, relax, and just focus on one’s needs is the most challenging of all the tasks, but not impossible!

Here are a few  time management tips and tricks that would help all women/moms to do more in their day-

Set Priorities

Setting down and knowing your priorities would enable mothers to know what to focus on during the day, the week and the month. For instance, if healthy meals are a priority, you would know that you need to set aside time to plan and cook nutritious, wholesome meals. On the other hand, if the priority is outdoor sports for the kids and exercise for the family as a whole, then it would be easy to plan days to accommodate these and ensure that everyone gets their share of sports and exercise.

Write Down Your Timetable

Creating and writing down the family time table and putting it up in a prominent place would ensure effective time management for the family and ensure that everyone knows who is doing what, when and where. This is where schedules and to-do lists come into play. For more on schedules and to-do lists do read Advantages of Schedules and To-Do Lists.

Learn to Say No

This is probably the most important element of effective time management. Mothers generally, tend to say ‘Yes’ to everything, resulting in them getting swamped by too many demands and too many things to do. Learning to say no politely and firmly would ensure that only the most important things get done, leaving you with more time to yourself and for your family.

Realistic time management is the key. Make plans to accomplish daily goals. A wise person once said “those who fail to plan, plan to fail! Take the small steps to improvement! Success is inevitable if one just doesn’t give up! Keep your eyes on your prize and don’t sweat the journey! No  matter what happens, don’t become a dream deferred! Live your life because you only get one and then all is just memories!

Miracles and Blessings!

Peace
